TECHNOLOGY WATCH · SPORTS INNOVATION
Patent intelligence for sports R&D teams.
Footwear is my core field, and the method works for any sports product. Every month I read the patents filed worldwide and turn the ones that matter into material your engineers can use the same week.

Offset upper and lower pods sit in a recessed arch sidewall. They compress and expand to produce a forward force, optionally with a spring plate.

An elastic plate is held bent against its own restoring force by a resilient part: a preloaded spring meant to push the runner forward.

Struts inside the midsole bend under load. The cushioning returns energy and can be tuned through the strut geometry.

One plate with several stiffnesses: the layout of linear elements changes rigidity zone by zone, with no added part.

A 1.2 mm W-shaped carbon plate with set tilt angles under forefoot, midfoot and heel, meant to raise cadence through a rolling effect.
Five entries from the last twelve months of the bulletin. Stars are my running-relevance rating.
01 · SERVICES
Three depths of watch.
A · WATCH
Know what was filed
A monthly bulletin of the patents filed in your product field, rated against your interests. Weekly one-slide briefs on chosen themes. A six-month trend report.
Online bulletin, first 10 days of each month
B · ANALYSE
Understand what it means
Technical analysis of a single patent. Research on a theme, a product or a competitor, with a TechMap of the patent clusters behind it.
Written report, 2 to 4 weeks
C · IDEATE
Turn it into ideas
An on-site workshop with your product, innovation and IP teams: project a competitor’s next range, or build new concepts from a means tree.
One day on site, with report
02 · METHOD
An engineering reading of each patent.
I look at the problem the inventor is solving and the technical means claimed. Legal scope and freedom to operate stay with your IP counsel.

03 · PUBLIC ANALYSES
What the patents said before the shoes came out.
A selection of published analyses, in French for now.
04 · OFF-PISTE
Ideas from outside the shoe.
Off-piste is where I follow a question beyond a single patent: the biomechanics behind carbon plates, the carbon footprint of a shoe, what running data says about the world, and a few satirical detours. It is where new watch themes start.

05 · ABOUT
I’m Jaife.
Arts et Métiers engineer, working in aerospace since 2011, where I lead a multidisciplinary engineering team. I started reading running patents in 2014 because I wanted to know what was inside my shoes before they reached the shop.
Since 2022 I offer that work to sport brands: the same method, applied to their themes and kept confidential.
